TRIALS – Open Mens AL1 & AL2 plus Open Womens A (players, coaches & sponsors invited)

BBFC has a proud tradition in top grades of Mens and Womens Football in the Sutherland Shire Football Association.

We are the only club to represented in the top grades for each of the past 7 years. In 2017 we were the only club represented in the top 2 grades of Mens & Womens Football. Our Womens As have been semi finalists in 6 of the past 7 years, playing in 5 grand finals and taking out 2 premierships.

With players getting older, travelling, having babies etc we need to rebuild these teams for 2018. We welcome expressions of interest to trial with BBFC in January 2018 (Sunday 14th/21st/28th – times to be advised).

Our top teams will enjoy strong support from the club, a great field to play on and a fantastic clubhouse which hosts many social facilities. All players will receive a full PUMA playing strip and jacket.

Current and interested players or coaches are asked to follow the link below to express their interest in being part of Mens AL1, AL2 or Womens A in 2018.

(a message from Player Development Co-ordinator, Brett White)

Hello there everyone, trust you are all doing great and looking forward to on a great week. I just want to touch base with EVERYONE about some of the things we have to look forward to in 2018, and some of the needs we have to ensure 2018 is a sensational year.

We know that the more energy we invest during the off-season the better 2018 will be for everyone. And there is plenty happening which we hope members will get really excited about.

It’s exciting that 2018 will see all our players kitted out with a brand new PUMA strip that looks fantastic and also displays our new emblem. A lot of work has gone into developing all of these, including sponsorship, design, sizing and the new “off field” selection as well as a few more very cool surprises in store. Designing a new look strip, and emblem, is an interesting and challenging journey. Everyone has a thought, an opinion, an idea or a dislike. I am pleased that over the last 8 months, through many conversations, heaps of collaboration and a stack of input, that we will be launching these in 2018, with a true sense of pride, alignment and expectation.

I love how the new emblem states our club values, to BELONG, ENGAGE & GROW. These are not simply words, or empty statements, they describe what we are about as a club. They articulate who we are, and what is important to us. For ALL our members, young and old, to know and feel they belong, that they are a part of a tribe that respects them, accepts them and wants to see them be the best they can be. That ALL members engage in the club by playing, supporting, working, coaching, helping out, socialising and contributing their part to help make things happen throughout the year. That ALL members are growing, developing and improving, on the park, in team, as people, leaders, coaches and parents… that we all are growing to be the best we can be in all areas. I love it.

While the season might be a long way off there is much to do to be properly prepared – “the off-season is the on-season”. Online REGOs open on in early January, with the BBFC deadline the 7th February, as teams need to be submitted to SSFA by the 21st February. Games commence 24th and 25th March.

It is exciting to let you know that Carla Richardson is stepping into a new role at BBFC, overseeing our women and girls. To ensure the ongoing growth of women’s football through integration, involvement, development and strength across all ages at our club. Carla has played and coached at BBFC for a long time - So Brilliant.

MINIROOS (6 to 11’s)
2018 will see us change the organisational structure a little, introducing Age Coordinators. The age coordinators will help coordinate and organise the teams at the start of season, help ensure communication with teams happens throughout the year and help coordinate training for the age group. Geoff Holden (From SSFA) will once again be joining our Mini Roos as our Technical Director for this age group, providing support, insights and guidance for our coaches and teams.

We have locked in Age Coordinators for our Intra and Under 6’s and our 10/11’s group so far, with some conversations happening for the Under 7’s and 8/9’s, but I am keen to chat to anyone who might interested – the more the merrier. Really excited how this will pan out for all involved for 2018. We will still be needing coaches and managers for each team, so I trust you’re keen to put you hand up in 2018.

We are also looking at running a coaching clinic for the 6-11’s that will cover the basics of training, format, structure and mindset early in the new year, so stay tuned.

We will also be looking at trying out a once a month Friday night specialist training session, with canteen and bar open for parents, and bring in some guest coaches to work with the kids that are keen.

The number of players per team jumps from 4 to 7 to 9 to 11 between 6s and 12s. We need to be conscious of continually building our numbers in these age groups to ensure we have enough players to accommodate everyone when they enter under 12s. So please invite your friends along.

YOUTH FOOTBALL (12’s to 18’s)
2018 will see us appoint a new in-house Technical Director for our youth football, with Gary Williamson putting up his hand to work alongside our coaches in the 2018 season. Gary is a super guy (the Guru) with a stack of experience and character to walk alongside our teams and coaches across this age group. Really excited about what Gary will bring to our Youth Football in 2018.
We will also be locking in some specialist coaches and guest coaches throughout the year to come alongside our teams and add a bit of flair and expertise. This includes Nathan Denham, recently retired First Grade goalkeeper from Sutherland Sharks FC. Nathan will be running a monthly GK keeper session for our youth keepers, and has an incredible amount of experience as a professional goal keeper, and in training other keepers.

We will still be needing coaches and managers for each team, so I trust you’re keen to put you hand up in 2018, and play your part again in 2018. We can’t do it without you. I will also be looking at running a players clinic specifically for our 15 to 21 year old players that will cover the importance of developing a growth mindset, resilience, focus, influence, team dynamics and building trust.

SENIOR FOOTBALL (21’s to AL & SW to O45’s & W30’s)
This can be a little bit like herding cats (particularly the O35s and 45s), but our senior football is a critical element to our club, and a very successful one over the years. As one of the smaller clubs in the SSFA, it is quite remarkable that we are the only club to have a team represented in both AL1 men’s and SWA’s (the 2 highest grades in the Shire) for the last 7 years. Something to be proud of, and something to ensure we continue. If your team looks like it will need more players for next year please let us know so we can keep an eye out for you.

We are totally committed to having strong, competitive teams is AL1, AL2 & WSA to ensure we continue to provide opportunities for our younger players to play at this level. While all these teams have a strong base for next year we are on the hunt for new players and dedicated coaches for each of these teams. We will be hosting trials for the AL1 & AL2’s in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for details. With a few guys headed overseas we have some positions to fill. So, if you know anyone who might be interested in playing at this level with BBFC next year let us know.

The rest of our Senior Teams will benefit from specialist coaches throughout the year. If you’re interested make sure you communicate your needs to me around coaching and player development. I want to be able to serve your teams, and your coaching in any way I can, to help you and your team have a great 2018.

Please get in touch if you would like to get involved in taking BBFC forward in 2018 and beyond.

Any questions or concerns, just email me or give me a buzz anytime.

Have a great day
