Zimmerframe Cup raises over $2,000 for club

The 2016 Zimmerframe Cup saw a further $1,000 raised by the over 35s and over 45s teams.

A great day was had by all with the 45Cs victorious. It’s on again in 2017.

On Sunday March 22nd the four senior mens teams competed in the first ever ‘Zimmer Frame Cup’ to help raise much needed funds for the club and clubhouse project.

Held at Prince Edward Park the format of the day was a round robin style tournament with 2 x 20 minute halves and handicaps based on grade and age.

This inaugural event was a perfect way to start the season in relaxed surroundings and played in the true spirit of mateship. The intention for this tournament is for it to now become an annual event with the actual ‘Zimmer Frame Cup’ to be proudly displayed in the new clubhouse.

In what was a hotly contested tournament with both the 45A’s and 35E’s in contention for line honours, saw the 35E’s take home the win with after beating the 45A’s 2-0. Special mentions go to the 45D’s who battled hard all day and managed to hold the 35E’s to a well deserved draw and also for defeating the 35C’s after handicaps were enforced.

Between the 4 teams they managed to raise a grand total of $1,000 which will go towards completion of turfed area at riverside of clubhouse.
