Understanding Your Role in the Club

Role of Club Committee

People’s lives are shaped by their families, schools, friends, church and so many other individuals or groups. Bonnet Bay FC believes in the adage “it takes a village to raise a child” and we take a our role in each member’s personal development very seriously.

We encourage members to think in terms of “Club, Team, Me”, an environment where we all work together for mutual benefit.

We are committed to fostering a Growth Mindset across all club activities. We ensure members can access resources to help to understand the club’s expectations and how they can grow within this strong yet flexible framework.

The Club must treat all members in a fair and reasonable manner and in accordance with club policies. This requires the courage to stand up for what is right. It  is impossible to give everyone exactly what they want which makes it important to be balanced, transparent and honest with all members.

It is not fair and reasonable to give some members preference because their parent is a coach, or a sponsor, or helps out in other ways. Decisions must be made on merit.

We understand that kids develop physically and emotionally at different rates and need to ensure that all players have the same opportunity to receive development support irrespective of age, sex, current skill level, perceived potential or means.

The club strives to develop teams in each age group where players can be allocated positions based on their relative skill level. Returning players are given priority to a position in their age group but are allocated to grades based on merit. It is important we help members develop the resilience required to manage inevitable disappointments.

The club ensures members have access to psychological support if needed for any matter to do with sport or their private life.
